"You, Me, and an STD" Syllabus
You, Me, and an STD is a 50-minute presentation educating on STDs. This is done through student-interactive activities which brings fun and humor in the classroom while teaching the seriousness of STDs and how easily they are transmitted.
Included are...
The Dice Game:
Goal: To educate on the seriousness of STD and how easily they can be transmitted
Did you know that if a teen should become sexually active it occurs on average at around the age of 16 and that on average one marries at age 25? This gives a 9-year span of sexual risks. Watch the teens' reaction when they reveal their results after playing the dice game! Depending on the # rolled, will depend on the risk involved. An eye-opener for any teen participating.
The Crowded Bed
Goal: Decisions in their relationships today will impact their future relationships/marriage
What would happen if Kirk and Sabrina had been abstinent until their marriage? See how crowded their marriage bed would look if everybody they had sex with were to join the picture. When combined with the Dice Game, this drama takes on a whole new picture!
Do It or Wait?
Goal: Realizing that media has a huge influence in teens lives doesn't always mean it has our best interest in mind when compared to those who know the teens best
There are circles of influence in a teens' life when it comes to sexual activity. Teens will address those who influence them to get sexually active and also those who encourage them to wait. When compared, teens will realize that the "Do It" side is more shallow than the "Wait" side. Discussion ensues of why one would listen to those who know them best.
Assurance: There will be no graphic images of STDs presented.
